About me
Aimee Calayo is a speaker, writer, counselling therapist and certified teacher. She established Ordinary Therapy, a clinical counselling practice tailored to the mental health needs of teachers, educational assistants and other educational workers. Her PD sessions are research driven, incorporating therapeutic practices drawn from acceptance commitment therapy, attachment theory as well as the latest research for ADHD. Aimee believes in authentic professional development, with the belief that as we work on ourselves and our own well-being practices, we are better equipped to bring light to those around us. Aimee’s background in education and counselling psychology has had her working in areas such as crisis intervention, domestic violence, family wellness, and ADHD support. She worked professionally in the public school system for 15 years and now collaborates with various initiatives such as the HEARTcare blog, ADHD Edmonton. Aimee holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology and a Masters of Education. As a former junior high Language Arts teacher, Aimee is honoured and delighted to be collaborating with PAZ Publishing, supporting the work of Dawn Leslie, as a reviewer of the upcoming Gypsy Horses of Horn Hill juvenile fiction series.
