Project-Based Learning (PBL) aims to engage students in learning opportunities through problem-solving activities that culminate in an end-product and reflection about the process (Beckett et al., 2020; Stoller, 2006). The combination of PBL with collaborative learning (CL) and artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to create a powerful pedagogical synergy that promotes the development of language proficiency, as well as soft skills such as creativity, critical thinking, self-management and leadership. In this session, we will discuss the characteristics and advantages of PBL, CL and AI, and we will use an example of an AI-supported collaborative project to illustrate the different stages of the project development and the associated pedagogical decisions. The session will be conducted in English, but the concepts are applicable to the teaching of any language.
