Faculty from Carpentry, Cook, and Welding apprenticeship programs will present perspectives that emphasize the essential importance of strong ‘academic’ competencies in the skilled trades, often perceived for university directed learners only. Hands-on Learning & Technology (such as VR, AR, & simulations) will showcase new tools which are changing apprentices learning, making subjects more engaging for students. Science Faculty speaks about skilled trades integration into other subjects such as chemistry, physics, engineering, technology, and education in general. These critical thinking realms offer teachers terrific opportunities to prepare students for the skilled trades by connecting core curriculum subjects with applied problem-solving activities and scenarios. Workforce Development and Career Path speakers address workforce trends and how teachers can guide students toward in-demand, stable & rewarding career paths.
