When I was a child in elementary school there wasn't such a thing as ADHD, but I definitely struggled with it. I was officially diagnosed in my fifties. I always thought I was dumb until I ended up in education. As a teacher for over 30 years, and a University Instructor of pre-service teachers for 6 years, I have learned how to navigate the ups and downs of a neurodiverse brain. If you, or someone close to you, struggles with ADHD then this is session for you. I promise that you will not be bored!

Become your own community planner as you learn how to draw and paint a whimsical winter landscape using watercolour. Delegates will explore drawing simple buildings, snowy hills, and trees to create a cohesive winter community scene. This lesson supports the Alberta Arts Education curriculum by developing skills in observation, composition, colour, and creative expression, while also making meaningful connections to Social Studies concepts such as communities. Participants will learn skills in how to paint with watercolour while discovering a joyful, calming approach to art-making that encourages creativity and confidence. In this session, Karli Grove redefines feedback as a tool for simply collecting information throughout the process instead of just at the end. Through relatable examples and take-home questions to build from, you’ll explore six key elements of feedback: direction, timing, voice, interpretation, repercussions, and feedback (of feedback).
